Congratulations to Susan Shie’s PDQ Challenge Team, lead by Katie Fowler, for winning the first PDQ at AQT Challenge. It was great fun to watch 7 teams create a 12×12 block in one hour, using pre-selected fabrics, while others cheered from the sidelines…some because they weren’t the one under fire to complete the block, and others just to cheer on their teammate!

It was a beautiful day yesterday and Els van Baarle’s students set-up their clothes line to dry their beautifully dyed and printed pieces! Spectacular views from every classroom…and from every clothes line!

It was wild but everyone made it! Snow over the passes, but only rain, some sunshine, rainbows and clear crisp air at lakeside. Patty Hawkins did an amazing presentation tonight and we’re all ready for a good night’s sleep and tomorrow!

We arrived at Lake Tahoe yesterday afternoon and settled into our very quaint cabin on the lake. One student arrived on Friday from Alaska, and three more arrived today! Why is it that the Alaska people beat the storm and the rest of our students will drive through it today to get here? The good news is that we see stars this morning…but the wind is something else.
As you can see from the photo, Patty Hawkins and Susan Shie also arrived last night. Patty’s entire presentation for tonight was all prepared on her new Apple IPad…we all want one so that we can retire our old slide carousels and overhead projectors! Keep checking back for news about this year’s conference as we will be blogging daily!
